Minutes of TAMU OS/2 User's Group Meeting 5 May 1995 -- George R. Welch 5 people in attendance (but never more than 3 at a time). With attendance at an all time low, no real program for the meeting was attempted. We discussed the pathetic attendance, and consensus was reached (not hard with 3 people) that one problem was the absence of a mass emailing to the group announcing the meeting. George demoed the latest version of the shareware MPEG movie player pmmpeg 3.0. This new version uses DIVE (OS/2's Direct Interface to Video Extension) and has about an order of magnitude improvement in performance over the last version 2.1. Unfortunately, the group's machine does not have MMPM installed, which is required for DIVE to operate, and so the performance increase was not realized on the group's machine. Roger described a recent problem he is having with OS/2's fdisk not being willing to partition his new hard drive. Several possible reasons were discussed, but no conclusion reached. Neal said he was willing to continue having meetings throughout the summer. We decided to email the group with a poll on whether or not this was a good idea.
